The Art of Metamorphosis

“Doctor Muglerstein’s Island” is a project that was imagined and designed by Mr. Mugler, as a transposition of his extravagant style into a 3D environment that favors all sorts of possible mutations, that generates original ideas and experiments for an artist who has always claimed: “my measure is excess.”

A Community of Artists on Second Life

For its inauguration on Second Life, Doctor Muglerstein’s Island made a call for creativity to all Second Life artists, photographers and cinematographers open from February 7 to March 30, 2008. A total of 30 photos were exhibited and a dozen of machinimas were screened, including La metamorphose by Marie Lauridsen, the winner of the Jury’s Grand Prize.

From Virtual to Reality…

The Jury’s Grand Prize trophy is real-life 3D representation of Marie Lauridsen’s Second Life avatar, a hand-painted bronze-colored resin statue of 10 x 3.5 inches (26 x 9 cm). A technological première in France, which was made possible by a 3D printer that recomposes a file extracted from Second Life layer by layer.

The 3 winners of the photography contest are Amélia Fayray, Moya and Vint Falken, who will receive a large-sized print outs on canvas of their photos.

Remise des prix de l’exposition « l’art de la métamorphose » sur l’île du Dr Muglerstein

Marie Lauridsen, lauréate au grand prix du Jury de « The Dr.Muglerstein Machinima expérience » a reçu un trophée en bronze, réplique exacte de son avatar virtuel !

L’art de la métamorphose…

« L’île du Docteur Muglerstein » est un projet conçu et dessiné par Monsieur Mugler, la transposition de son univers extravagant dans un environnement 3D propice à toutes les mutations possibles, générateur d’idées et d’expériences inédites pour le créateur qui affirme depuis toujours : « ma mesure : c’est la démesure »…

Une communauté d’artiste sur second life…

Pour son inauguration sur Second life, L’île du Dr. Muglerstein a lancé un appel a création auprès des artistes cinéastes et photographe de Second Life, du 07 février au 30 mars. Au total, ce sont 30 œuvres photographiques exposées et une douzaine de films machinimas* dont La métamorphose de Marie Laurisen, lauréate au grand prix du Jury.

Du virtuel au réel…

Le trophée de la gagnante n’était d’ailleurs autre que la transformation de son propre avatar sur Second life, une statuette de résine de 26 x 9 cm, de couleur bronze, peinte à la main. Une première en France, rendue possible grâce à une imprimante capable de recomposer couche par couche un fichier en 3D, directement extrait de Second Life.

Les gagnants des 3 catégories photos, Amélia Fayray, Moya et vint Falken, se sont vu remettre leur œuvres imprimées en grand format sur toile.
